Living in Kagoshima,
During the early days of the Yomitan Sanboku Kiln in Okinawa, he became an apprentice to Master Yoneji Matsuda, and after 10 years of training,
The kiln was opened in Satsumasendai City in 2006 in my hometown of Kagoshima.
Using the techniques I learned in Okinawa, I am particular about local materials, and I am constantly pursuing things that can only be born there, and I am making daily utensils.
Selected for the Japan Folk Crafts Museum Exhibition in 2012 and 2014.
Mr. Sasaki, who grew up in Kagoshima Prefecture, entered a university in Okinawa, where he encountered pottery and worked part-time at Kitagama . She learned Yachimun.
After returning to Kagoshima, I saw Mr. Yoneji sticking to Okinawan materials, so I used soil and ash from Satsuma, Kirishima, Iriki, and Sakurajima to create original pottery made from Kagoshima products . He opened a kiln called “Noharaya”.
Mr. Sasaki's pottery has a so-called "black Satsuma" feel , but it also gives me an impression of a different culture.
I think this is due to the influence of pottery, the creativity of Mr. Sasaki who tries various techniques, and the friendly rivalry . is.
